Let’s talk about gold. More specifically though, gold leaf used as an embellishment throughout the wedding stationery. Also known as gilded invitations and to not be confused with gold foil pressed invitations, this luxurious looking wedding invitations have been a long time favourite of ours and many of our couples.

Foil printing is very similar to letterpress—except that there is no ink! Foiling also utilises a metal plate of your design, only that heat is used to transfer the foil to the paper. This gives the stationery a metallic, elegant finish, which has made gold foiling a sought-after printing method. This printing method is absolutely gorgeous and it creates a luxurious and gleaming impression on the paper and your guests.

That being said, gold leaf invitations, do not refer to gold foil invitations. By gold leaf invitations or better said, gilded invitations, we are referring to invitations that are adorned with hand-applied gold leaf, either on the edges of the paper, on the envelope liner or wrap, or as an insert in the wax seals that close the envelopes, as well as on the day of stationery items (be them, menus, place cards, escort cards, ceremony programs, and so on).
